The TRUSTe and Hacker Safe certification

Those certifications are under implementation and will be fully implemented by the launch of the Beta version.

MyID is a licensee of the TRUSTe Privacy Program. TRUSTe is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to enable individuals and organizations to establish trusting relationships based on respect for personal identity and information by promoting the use of fair information practices. This privacy statement covers the site www.myid.is. Because we want to demonstrate our commitment to our users' privacy, we have agreed to disclose our privacy practices and have them reviewed for compliance by TRUSTe.

If users have questions or concerns regarding this statement, you should first contact MyID by email at privacy@myid.is. If you do not receive acknowledgment of your inquiry or it is not satisfactorily addressed, you should then contact TRUSTe through the TRUSTe Watchdog Dispute Resolution Process (http://www.truste.org/consumers/watchdog_complaint.php). TRUSTe will serve as a liaison with the Web site to resolve users concerns. However, please understand that the TRUSTe program only covers information collected through the Web site, and does not cover information that may be collected through software downloaded from the site.

Our website is tested and certified daily to pass the HACKER SAFE Security Scan. To help address concerns about hacker access to confidential data, the "live" HACKER SAFE mark appears only when a web site meets the HACKER SAFE standard, such as our website.

When you use the Site, our servers automatically record certain information that your web browser sends whenever you visit any website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, IP address, browser type, browser language, referring / exit pages and URLs, platform type, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and the order of those pages, the amount of time spent on particular pages, the date and time of your request. We do not associate your IP address with any other personally identifiable information to identify you personally, except in case of violation of our Terms of Use.

We sometimes request users of the Site to provide personally identifiable information. For example, in order to certify your identity and to become a certified user of the Site, you will be required to submit certain personally identifiable information. The information collected from you is strictly voluntary. You may decline to submit personally identifiable information, in which case we will not be able to provide our service to you. The type of information collected during the certification process may include your contact information, such as your name, e-mail address, postal address, phone number, country of residence ("Registration Information"), and your personal credit card (Visa, MasterCard). The Certification Information is linked directly to a personal User Name (your real name) and Password chosen by you and can only be retrieved by supplying the correct User Name and Password that is linked to that profile. You may choose to provide optional profile information such as your photo, date of birth, profile description, contact information, location and other information, which may be collected and displayed on your public profile. You can also choose to manage other digital identity under different screen name. It is your choice to post content (for example, notes or photos) and make it publicly available. You are solely responsible for the content you post. It is also your choice to reveal your location and make it publicly available. If you submit personally identifiable information to us through the Site, then we use your personal information to operate, maintain, and provide customized features and functionality. Any personal information or other content that you voluntarily disclose online (for example, on your public profile, in posts, comments, notes, blogs, twitter,…) becomes publicly available and could be collected and used by others. Your account User Name is displayed to other users when you post, send direct messages, or comment. Any content published in public mode may be redistributed through the Internet and other media, and could be viewed by the general public. We do not use and will NEVER use your name, email address, phone number, or other personally identifiable information to send commercial or marketing messages without your consent or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out. We may, however, use your email address without further consent for non-marketing or administrative purposes (such as notifying you of major Site changes or for customer service purposes). We use certain non-personally-identifiable information (such as anonymous usage data, cookies, IP addresses, browser type, click stream data, and user location) to improve the quality and design of the Site and to create new features, promotions, functionality, and services by storing, tracking, and analyzing user preferences and trends.

Registered users can invite friends to become registered users by sending invitation emails via our automated invitation system. We store the email addresses that registered users provide so that we may keep track of how many people are being invited. We do not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides the invitations. Recipients of invitations may contact us to request the removal of their information from our database.

Access to your personal information is restricted to use by MyID. We do share nor sell any kind of non-public information with any third parties. We will not otherwise disclose any personal information without your consent except: in response to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our rights to defend against legal claims; and if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, safety of person or property, violation of our policies, or as otherwise required by law.

You may update or correct your personal information and email preferences at any time by visiting the Account Settings page. The accuracy of such information is solely your responsibility. To help us make e-mails more useful and interesting for registered users, we may receive a confirmation when you open e-mail from the Site. We may also compare our registered user list to lists received from other companies, in an effort to avoid sending unnecessary messages to our registered users.

We retain the personal information we collect from you for as long as the information is relevant to our business purposes or until you request that we remove the data by contacting MyID using the contact information provided below or by deleting your account on the SIte.

We recognize that your privacy is extremely important to you when it comes to identity, especially digital identity, and therefore we endeavor to keep your personal information fully confidential. For example, to protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique Password) to verify your identity before granting access to a user's account or making changes to a user's account information. You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique Password and account information at all times. To protect any data you store on our servers we also regularly audit our system for possible vulnerabilities and attacks and we use a tier-one secured-access data center. And sensitive data (such as credit card information) is protected by SSL encryption when it is exchanged between your web browser and our web site.

Children are not eligible to use our service and we ask that minors (under the age of 18) do not submit any personal information to us or use the service.
